TCHS Baseball Scrimmage Versus River

By Randy Rutherford - Sports Writer | Apr 14, 2021

Tyler Consolidated Silver Knight’s Coach Robby Jones was happy with the results of a recent scrimmage against River Local. “We were pleased with how our pitching staff came out and commanded their pitches and worked in the zone. River and Coach Tim Blue have a nice group of kids and it was a very even scrimmage throughout the evening,” said Coach Jones. Coach Jones believes the Silver Knights found a few things to work on in practice defensively as far as communication and understanding the situation the team is facing. “Base running will be another point of emphasis as we move forward with practice. Coach Vance Ash, the staff, and I liked the effort and how well we hit the ball,” commented Coach Jones.

Vance Ash, Assistant Coach was also pleased with the scrimmage saying, “A lot of our kids played summer ball, so it was nice to see us throw the ball across the plate and make routine outs. Our hitting was a plus for seeing live pitching for the first time,” explained Coach Ash.

Tyler Consolidated will hold one more scrimmage on April 7 at home against Williamstown. The regular season gets underway on April 14th against rival Magnolia High School at George Mullett Field in New Martinsville.
