Silver Knights Season Comes To An End in Sectional Tournament
The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights fall in the double elimination Sectional Tournament at TCHS losing to Ritchie Co and Williamstown. Coach Summers team entered the night on Monday, Nov 2, facing a tough Ritchie Co team and went down in 5 sets losing set one 29-27, winning set two 25-17, losing set three 25-19, and winning set four 25-17, setting up the fifth and deciding match eventually losing 15-10. The Silver Knights were led by Regan Smith and Caleigh Phillips.
On the night Smith had 17 kills, two blocks, 13 digs, five points, 61 sets and 24 assists. Phillips recorded 21 kills, six blocks, 10 digs, eight points with two aces, 59 sets and 21 assists. also contributing were Sadie Nichols, Landry Buchanan, Ryley VanDyne and Lindsay Thompson. Nichols had 19 digs, 10 points with two aces.
Buchanan had eight digs, 13 points with one ace. VanDyne had two kills, five blocks, and two digs.
Next up for the Silver Knights was St Marys. The Knights came out on top beating St Marys, 3 sets to 1. Regan Smith had 13 kills, one block, five digs, nine points with two aces, 48 sets and 22 assists. Alisa Miller had four kills, one block, and one dig. Caleigh Phillips had 15 kills, four digs, nine points with three aces, 32 sets, and 24 assists. Lindsay Thompson had 10 kills, one block, and 12 points.
The win over St Marys advanced the Knights to Tuesday night Nov 3, vs Willaimstown. Facing a win or go home match, the Yellowjackets proved to be to much for the Knights who lost in four sets ending their playoff run. For the night, Caleigh Phillips had 12 kills, one block, four digs, seven points with two aces, 48 sets and 15 assists. Regan Smith had 11 kills, one block, eight digs, four points with two aces, 42 sets, and 13 assists.
Lindsay Thompson had four kills, four blocks, two digs, and five points with one ace. Audry Dennis contributed 18 digs.
Seniors Regan Smith, Lindsay Thompson, and Sadie Nichols closed out a great career with the Knights.
Coach Summers was quoted “this is very hard for our team and especially our Seniors. We fought hard all year but came up short at the end. I feel good about our future and look forward to getting started again next year”.
