Silver Knights Host Strong Field In Quad Match

The Silver Knights hosted Philip Barbour, Point Pleasant, and Oak Glen at home on Tuesday October 20. The evening started with the Knights vs Point Pleasant with the Silver Knights sweeping two sets by the score of 25-17 and 25-23. The Knights were led by Regan Smith and Caleigh Phillips with Smith recording six kills, one block, six digs, 11 points, including two aces, 26 sets, and 10 assists. Phillips recorded 11 kills, four digs, nine points, with one ace, 22 sets and eight assists. Other contributors to the win were Sadie Nichols with 10 digs and one point and Lindsay Thompson with one kill, one block, five points, with two aces. Coach Richard Summers said “this is a very strong field we are facing tonight with all three teams coming from the Double A ranks.

Match Two pitted the Silver Knights vs Philip Barbour. The Knights were defeated in two sets by the score of 25-22 and 25-13. The knights were led by Regan Smith with three kills two digs, two points, 28 sets, and 8 assists. Also strong for the Knights was Caleigh Phillips with six kills, three digs, 37 sets, and four assists. Riley VanDyne with one kill and two blocks, Sadie Nichols with six digs and three points, Landry Buchanan with three digs two points.

Next up for the Knights was Oak Glen. The Knights put up a fight but eventually fell to the Bears in 3 sets. The Silver Knights won the first set 25-23 but lost the next two sets by the score of 25-21 and 25-16. Coach Summers stated ” he was happy with how his team performed facing stronger opposition”. Leading the Knights was Caleigh Phillips with 8 kills, 2 blocks, 6 digs, 3 points, with1 ace, 38 sets, and 12 assists. Regan Smith followed with 7 kills, 11 digs, 9 points, with 2 aces, 41 sets, and 9 assists. Lindsay Thompson with 2 kills, 3 blocks, 5 points, with 2 aces. Sadie Nichols 7 digs, 3 points, with 1 ace, 2 sets, and 1 assist. Audrey Dennis had 8 digs, and 4 points.

Coach Summers was pleased with where the program is with the JV record at 14-4 and the 8th grade record standing at 8-2.

Prior to the beginning of the evening matches the Silver Knights were presented with the Merle Davis Sportsmanship Award presented by the Ohio River Valley Officials Association.

Quoting Coach Summers ” We are playing good prior to the Sectionals, however, with 6 of the top 8 teams in our region we will have to continue to work hard and get better”.

Silver Knights Face Off with Calhoun County in LKC Placement Match

On Thursday October 22 the Silver Knights traveled to face Calhoun and came home with a two set victory 25-14 and 25-18. The win was a total team victory with several Knight girls contributing. Regan Smith 8 kills, 2 blocks, 10 digs, 4 points. Caleigh Phillips 17 kills, 5 digs, 6 points. Landry Buchanan 8 digs, 14 points, 3 aces. Caitlyn Hayes 4 kills, 2 digs.

The Silver Knight JV also defeated Calhoun by the score of 25-6 and 25-7. They were led by Caitlyn Northcraft, Ashlee Spencer, Shayli Kucher and Maeson Maxwell.
