Athletes of the Week
Hunter Throckmorton, Hope Weber, Mallory Yeater
The Tyler Star News athletes of the week for October 28, 2020 are Paden City senior volleyball players Hope Weber and Mallory Yeater, and Tyler Consolidated Football star Hunter Throckmorton
The two senior four year starters for the Wildcats came through in a big way on Saturday, October 17, in the OVAC Class A championship match against Wellsville, Ohio.
The Wildcats went into the contest as the number one seed, while Wellsville was sitting in the number two spot. Paden City dropped the first two sets, but the Wildcats led by this duo never gave up and battled back to send the match into set five where they won a hard fought 15-10 decision.
Weber was huge for the Cats as she hammered home 27 kills in the match, and served up seven points, while getting 12 assists and seven digs. Yeater was on her game as well with 17 kills, 26 assists, seven points from the service line and five digs.
The never give up attitude of these two all-staters earn them the Player of the week award. Congratulations from the Tyler Star News.
Hunter Throckmorton put on a show against Magnolia as the senior running back rushed just 13 times in the loss to Magnolia, but picked up 170 yards on the ground, including a 92 yard jaunt for a score in the fourth quarter to get the Silver Knights back in the game. He also added a two point conversion run and caught a pass for 33 yards and a first down. On the season he has 547 yards on 75 carries for a 7.3 yard average.
