Wildcats Take Down Monarchs
The Paden City Wildcats, on September 23, traveled to Moundsville Fieldhouse and took down the John Marshall Monarchs in three sets. Wildcats are now 8-1 on the season.
The Cats had little trouble in the first two sets by winning 25-13 in set one, and 25-15 in second set. The Wildcats were led by Hope Weber, Mallory Yeater, Maggi Still, and Brandis Dalrymple with all getting kills. Tanley McEldowney, McKenzie Thomas, and Kelsey Michael contributing with many digs and set ups to the front line.
John Marshall jumped out to 10-5 lead in the third set, but the Lady Cats kept battling back and knotted the score at 13. The Monarchs went up 19-16, but the Cats McEldowney served three straight points to tie up the score at 19. With John Marshall leading 24-21 and game point, Maggi Still scored on four serves to take the lead 25-24, with Weber getting three thunderous kills out of the four points. The Lady Monarchs evened the score at 25 but lost the next volley to the Wildcats. Dalrymple served the last point of the match and the Cats won the third set 27-25.
