Knights Win Big At Calhoun County

Make it two in a row for the Silver Knights as they traveled to Calhoun County on Friday night September 18, and came away with a 42-6 victory to improve to 2-1 on the early season.

Winfrey was the leading rusher on the night for Tyler as he ran for 91 yards on 15 carries. Landis picked up 80 on just six totes, while Huffman added 74 on eight carries and Throckmorton tacked on 37 more with four runs. The Knights had a total of 287 total rushing yards, while the defense came up big limiting the home team to only 74 rushing yards. Total yards was huge as the visitors had 379 to Calhoun’s 98.

Huffman led the Silver Knights passing game tossing five completions on only six tries, while throwing for three touchdowns. A 57 yard T.D. toss to Timmons at the 6:33 mark of the first quarter, a four yard completion to Strode for another T.D. in the second period and a 10 yard toss to Winfrey in the third. The Knights other scores came on a three yard run by Throckmorton in first quarter, a 17 yard scamper by Huffman in the second and a one yard plunge by Headley in the fourth.

Timmons had 57 yards receiving on one reception, while Strode caught two balls for 15 yards and Winfrey added 10 yards on his catch. The Knights led in first downs 10-6, with eight coming by rushing and two by passing.

The Silver Knights will host Wirt County on Friday night with with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
