Silver Knights Get First Win Of Season
Tyler Consolidated opened it’s home schedule on Friday night with a big win over South Harrison to move to 1-1 on the season. The Knights playing at home for the first time on the brand new astro turf field, gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about as they jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead, and never looked back while scoring the first 34 points of the game before giving up a late fourth period score to the Hawks with two minutes left in the contest.
Hunter Throckmorton scored both first quarter touchdowns for the Silver Knights on runs of 43 with 10:01 left in the quarter, and added his second score on a five yard scamper at the 1:43 mark of the first. He also added a two point conversion run following his first score.
Case Landis hit paydirt in the third period on a 23 yard burst, while Ty Walton bulled over from six yards out with 5:49 left in the third. Trenton Huffman added the conversion run to make it 28-0 after three quarters.
With 6:41 left in the game Knights Quarterback Trenton Huffman broke free for the longest run of the contest as he rambled for an 83 yard touchdown to make it 34-0. With 2:26 left to play South Harrison got on the board on a 15 yard.
The Knights picked up 363 yards and five T.D.’s on 42 carries, with Huffman leading the way with 104 yards on just seven totes. Throckmorton ended with 88 yards on 11 carries and Landis ran seven times for 54 yards.
Huffman was 7-7 passing for 82 yards. The Knights led in first downs nine to seven. They suffered seven penalties for 70 yards, while South Harrison had nine penalties for 61 yards.
