Silver Knights Fall at Doddridge in Opener
Tyler Consolidated was no match for Doddridge County on Friday night September 4, in the season opener for both squads at the Bulldogs home turf. Doddridge put 27 points on the board in the first half then cruised to the win adding 13 more after the break to send the Knights home on the short end of a 40-0 whitewashing.
The home team got four T.D.’s from speedster Reese Burnside as he scored on runs of 64, 22, and three yards, while also grabbing a 29 yard T.D. reception.
Burnside picked up 120 yards on 13 rushes for his nights work, while the Bulldogs also got scores from Dylan Knight on a seven yard run and Michael Chandler with a 24 yard interception return.
Tyler couldn’t find the goal line and gained only 83 yards in the game compared to the Bulldogs 339. Doddridge picked up 13 first downs in the game to the Knights seven.
The Knights also suffered seven penalties for 54 in the contest, while the Bulldogs had four penalties for 35 yards.
Case Landis rushed 11 times for 23 yards and David Throckmorton had four carries for 8 yards. Justin Bowman had two receptions for 23 yards and Landis grabbed one ball for a 14 yard gainer.
The Silver Knights will be home on Friday, as they take to the new turf for the first time in an 7 p.m. matchup against South Harrison.
