Wildcats Working on Basketball
Paden City Wildcat Coach David Riggle spent three days last week working the Wildcat basketball team as they finished up their three week summer workouts. Riggle said he has some talent coming back for 2020-21, and is looking for his two returning seniors to step up big. Ty Cain a 6′ 1″ center, and Carson Palmer a six footer who can play all positions will anchor the team. Riggle believes if all goes as planned he could have 10-12 players time the season rolls around.
One player who started last year as a freshman is Joel Moore a smooth sharp shooting scorer who hit for 15 points a game last season. Riggle said they are hoping to get even more production from him this year.
“We just have a lot of good kids here at Paden City and I am happy to be able to be a part of this program. If they continue to work hard on their game we should be competitive by the time the season gets here. We’ll be somewhat young, but we’ll have experience, “said Coach Riggle.
“Cain is a talented ball player, he can score in close with a variety of moves, but he can step outside and knock down the jumper as well. Palmer is just a good all around player who gives 100 percent each time he hits the floor.”
Riggle said the rest of the players will be vying for playing time with Hizer coming back from a good season last year. ” He is much improved and will be a scorer to go along with his excellent defense,” said Riggle. Hizer will can play outside or inside and has developed into a nice player who can contribute in multiple ways.
Coach Riggle said he just hopes this team gets to play the season, and that things can return to normal for the kids sake. “It’s a tough thing to deal with, you practice hard, show up everyday and then they say you can’t play. If we can get past this virus we should be ready to compete against anyone on our schedule, and we look forward to that,” said Riggle.
