Hilltoppers Kyle Signs Large, Talented Group
WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty University head Acrobatics and Tumbling coach Kelsey Kyle is thrilled with the depth and potential of her 2020-21 recruiting class.
Kyle, who had her Hilltoppers off to a record-setting start this spring before her debut season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, is adding 14 new faces to one of the fastest-rising programs in the emerging NCAA sport.
“I’m very excited to add so many talented student-athletes to our team for the 2021 season,” Kyle said. “We didn’t have any seniors this year and our girls made great strides individually and as a program. With everybody coming back and these young women coming on board, we are definitely looking to take the next step up the conference, regional and national ladder.”
Kyle cast a wide net in her recruiting endeavors. The bulk of the class hails from the tri-state area of West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania but she was also able to convince student-athletes from as far away as Iowa and California to pursue their athletic and academic dreams in the West Virginia hills.
“This year’s recruiting class has a great mix of athletes with backgrounds in competitive cheer and gymnastics,” Kyle said. “I think the incoming talent will mesh very well with the talent and leadership already established on our team.
“We were all disappointed that we didn’t get a chance to finish our season but we certainly understood why it happened and fully supported the decision. It just makes us look forward even more to getting the team back together on campus to start preparations for next season!”
