Successful Season for Triple Threat

Triple Threat youth wrestling wrapped up their season in February at the West Virginia Youth State Wrestling tournament in Huntington with an outstanding show. 9 wrestlers battled all weekend against the best in the state. Congratulations to Sean Winfrey for becoming Triple Threat’s first ever state champion. Middle School Division 135 lb. Following behind was Branson Winfrey with runner-up state champion in the Middle School Division 95 lb. Also, Marshall Weekley walked away with third place, and Bryson Blake 6th Place. West Virginia also held the first ever youth girls state tournament the same weekend. Eliana Winfrey walked away as runner-up girls state champion. Other Regional qualifiers who battled it out at the state tournament who fell just short of placing were Liam Bordenkircher, Gideon Winfrey, Israel Winfrey, and Ben Winfrey. Way to go Triple Threat. The last weekend in February Triple Threat also competed in the Novice state tournament. Marshall Weekly took home 1st place, Liam Bordenkircher 3rd place, Brycen Blake 3rd place, Colson Spragg 5th place, and Wes Kelly. Triple threat starts their season mid October gearing up for the Ohio Valley Youth Wrestling League. It is a 4-week long league wrestling in Moundsville every Sunday in November. Teams in the league include John Marshall, Ohio County, Shadyside, Bellaire, St Clairsville, Martins Ferry, and Tyler County. After November, Triple Threat travels around the state competing in different tournaments ending the season in February with the state and novice state tournament.

Ages to wrestle are 4 and up. If your child is interested in joining Triple Threat wrestling next year watch for sign ups beginning in October.
