Silver Knights Fall to Doddridge
The Silver Knights had high hopes on senior night Monday, February 18, but the hopes were soon dashed as the visitors from Doddridge County started fast and never let up on their way to a 57-30 romp over the home town girls.
The Knights struggled coming out of the blocks and put up just 12 first half points, while the Bulldogs hit for 29 for a commanding lead at the halfway mark. Doddridge built on the lead in the second half winning each quarter to get the win.
For the (6-16) Silver Knights it was the two seniors leading the way as Allie Miller hit for a team high 12 points including two 3-pointers. Summer Miller knocked in nine markers including a three and was 2-2 from the free throw line. Other scorers for Tyler were Caleigh Phillips with four points, Lauren Templeton with two, Kelsi Vandruff with two and Regan Smith with one.
Doddridge was led by Jonna Ferrell with a game high 14 points, while Bianca Howell scored 13, Laurel McCombs added 12 including four 3-pointers. Rylee Spurlock hit for 10 markers giving the visitors four double digit scorers. The Bulldogs hit 22 field goals and made 8-21 free throws, while the Silver Knights only hit 11 shots from the floor and made 5-10 fouls shots.
