Rockets Edge Wildcats in Bowerston

The Wildcats looked to have their third win of the seasonwrapped up on Tuesday night, February 18, at Conotton Valley high school , but like Yogi Berra once said “It ain’t over till it’s over.” The Cats went into the halftime on the short end of a 33-29 score, but came out in the third quarter to reagain the lead by two 44-42. The Fourth frame belonged to Conontton Valley however as they outscored the Cats 21-17 to get the victory.

Paden City got was led by freshman Joel Moore who knocked home 20 points. Ty Cain contributed 13 to the cause and Jason Anderson added 12 on the night. Walter Joy chipped six including a 3-pointer, while Nick Clarke also added six. Brandon Hizer with four points rounded out the Wildcats scoring. Moore hit four from long range including three in the first period.

We held a slim lead and the ball with 12 seconds left on the clock, however when we inbounded the ball the clock never started and the home team got the ball back and scored to take the lead when the game should have been over,” said Paden City coach Dave Riggle. Riggle said he spoke with the A.D. who apologized to him and claimed it was just an accident.”14 seconds went by after we inbounded it.

“They tried to correct it by putting 2.5 seconds back on the clock for us.”

“It was a tough loss for us because we beat them two weeks ago at our place.”

Conotton Valley had two scorers over the 20 point mark, with Imes hitting for 24, and Mawge tossing in 23.
