Knights Dominate Bulldogs
The Knights honored their Seniors before the game, and in dominating fashion jumped out to 7-0 lead and went on to rout the Doddridge Bulldogs for 13th place in LKC 69-40, at TCHS Gymnasium.
It was the Silver Knights fifth win of the year and improved the record to (5-16). The Bulldogs dropped to (1-20) for the season.
Coach Nutter’s Knights came out hot with Senior Gavin Morris, hitting a 3-pointer from the corner for the first points of the game. Then WVU Football recruit, Mark Rucker brought the home crowd to their feet with a “thunderous slam”, after a steal, for the second basket of the game.
The Knights led after one quarter, 23-2 and were well on their way to the victory. The two teams went to the halftime break with the score 39-12 in favor of the Knights.
The six seniors for Tyler Consolidated all scored on Senior night, with Mark Rucker leading the way with 14 points, and had 11 rebounds, Gavin Morris and Gage Huffman added 13 markers each, Noah Swiger with seven and 10 boards and four points each from Zack Placer and Garrett Littell.
Underclassmen Caleb Strode had double digits for the third straight game with 10, Bowman added three and Throckmorton with one to round out the scoring for the victorious Knights.
Holden Hayes led Doddridge with game high 15 points while Noah Bumgardner tallied 10 and Hunter Jenkins netted eight.
KNIGHTS TAME THE TIGERS
The Tyler Consolidated Knights on Tuesday night, February 18, pulled away in the second half for a 63 to 51 victory over the Wirt County Tigers, at Tyler High Gymnasium. The first half both teams were trading baskets, with the largest lead being four points by either team. The Silver Knights led 17-13 after the first frame and went into the halftime leading 27-25.
The Knights were able to get some separation in the second half by stretching lead out to 14 points over the Tigers. The Wirt Tigers got to within eight points but would not get any closer and drop to (7-13) on the year. The Knights picked up their fourth win of the year to improve to (4-16).
Mark Rucker led the Knights with a game high 21 points and 11 rebounds. Justin Bowman had 15 points, Caleb Strode added 14 points and Huffman, with five, Throckmorton added four, rounding out scoring for TCHS with two points each were Placer and Littell. The Knights made 25 field goals and were 13-20 from the charity stripe.
The Tigers were led in scoring by, Kyler Carper 16 points, Nathan Murray 11 and Justin Windland chipped in with 10 points.
The Knights return to action Thursday night, February 20, against the Doddridge Bulldogs at TCHS Gym, the game will determine 13th place in LKC.
The Silver Knights will also be honoring their six seniors, on Senior Night, before start of the game.
