Tyler Boys Fall to Ravenswood, Ritchie

Tyler Consolidated made the trip south to Ravenswood on Thursday night, February 13, for a makeup game with the Red Devils in hopes of picking up their fourth win on the season. Ravenswood however, led from start to finish and sent the Knights home with their 16th loss on the season against just three wins.

After falling behind 17-10 in the first quarter the Knights faced and uphill battle the rest of the way and couldn’t quite make it over the hill as they went down by 16 at the break.

A mini rally in the third quarter by the Silver Knights and fueled by two baskets including a three from Gage Huffman cut the Red Devil lead to 11 heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Ravenswood would not be denied however as they used a 17-12 fourth to go back up by 16 for the victory.

Leading the Silver Knights on the night was senior guard Huffman who dropped in 16 points as one of three double figure scorers for the Coach Steve Nutter’s team. Caleb Strode knocked in 10 markers and Justin Bowman added 10. Zack Placer hit for six points.

Noah Swiger added four while Conner Bailey two, Jackson Kibbey two and David Throckmorton one finished up the Knights total.

The Red Devils received double figures from three players as well with Ashton Miller hitting a game high 17, Matthew Carte hit for 16, and Trey Mandrake added 14. Ravenswood got the win at the free throw line where they hit on 19-27 attempts compared to the Knights 9-17. The Red Devils improved to (9-9) on the season with the win.

Silver Knights fall at Home to Ritchie County

Tyler Consolidated fell to (3-15) on the season on Tuesday night, February 11, on their home court as the Ritchie County Rebels improved to (9-9) with a 67-51 victory over the Knights.

Tyler fell behind 18-8 after the first quarter and never caught up as the Rebels stayed hot from beyond the three point line canning seven long range shots for 21 total points. The Knights connected on just 17 of 45 field goal attempts in the game with three coming from three point range, however they did manage a 13-17 showing from the free throw line.

Ritchie hit 26 field goals in the contest and canned 8-12 from the charity stripe.

Caleb Strode was the lone Silver Knight to hit in double figures as he knocked in 11 points including two 3-pointers.

Backing him up was David Throckmorton with nine markers and Mark Rucker with eight points, including a 3-pointer. Zack Placer and Justin Bowman added six points each while Noah Swiger pitched in four.

Haygen Baker, Garrett Littell, and Gage Huffman all added two points to the Knights total. Bowman grabbed seven rebounds and Rucker had three assists.

Graden McKinney had a game high 26 points to lead the Rebels including a 3-pointer and a 5-5 showing from the foul line.
