Paden City played in the Championship of the West Virginia Hometwon Invitational basketball tournament on Saturday night, at Clay Battelle high school against Van High School.

The Wildcats came in second on the night despite playing tough fight against the favorites. The Cats who have been playing excellent basketball over the past three weeks went in as the underdog, but put up a valient fight before falling to Van.

However the Cats claimed second place among the 10 teams in the event and went home with another honor for the trophy case.

“We are proud of the effort the girls gave tonight and making it to the championship game was one of our early goals on the season. With a young squad and only two seniors on the roster we look to be back next season as a much improved team,” said coach Alan Miller.
