St. Mary’s Downs Tyler Consolidated

After one period in St. Marys on Tuesday night, February 4, the Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights had a two point lead 17-15. That’s when the hometown Blue Devils decided they’d had enough and turned up the pressure to outscore the Knights 22-9 on their way to an 80-56 win.

After the haltime break the Blue Devils never let up and used a 26-13 third quarter to put the game out of reac. Both team hit for 17 in the last stanza for the final score.

Mark Rucker paced the Silver Knights with 17 points, which included a hot night from behind the 3-point line where he canned five three’s. Backing him in double figures was sophmore Caleb Strode who hit for 12 points including two 3-pointers. Gage Huffman also added two three’s while finishing with six points. Rucker also hauled in six rebounds and added

three assists.

The Knights hit 19 field goals on the night 11 which were three point shots but had a huge disadvantage at the free throw line where they only got three attempts to the Blue Devils 24. However the Knights also suffered through 11 turnovers to St. Mary 5.

William Steele was the games leading scorer with23 points while Richard Dorman added17. Grant Barnhart hit for 14 and Peyton Auxier canned 11.
