Wildcats Best Cee-Bees

The Wildcats got a big win on Saturday, at Clay Battelle in a WVHIT battle that started out like the Cee Bees where going to blow the Cats off the floor. However the Wildcats came back strong, never giving up and turned a 12-5 first quarter deficit around to make it a game going into the fourth down just three.

With the momentum in the Lady Cats favor they stepped it up and ouscored the Cee Bees 11-3 to get their fifth win of the season 30-25.

“We have played hard all season long and these girls I just can’t say enough about. With only two seniors on the team and at times playing four freshmen, they understand it’s not going to be easy, But they work hard and never give up and today they saw the fruits of their labor,” said coach Alan Miller. “That last quarter was how we’re capable of playing all the time, we just have to start putting four quarters together and we’ll be a tough team to beat. “

Skylar Fulks knocked down three 3-pointers for the Cats and finished with nine points while Abbe Stackpole also added nine points including a 3-pointer. Freshman guard McKenzie Thomas played an excellent floor game and contributed six points plus four steals to go along with three assists. FreshmanTanley McEldowney grabbed six rebounds, added two points and played an excellent defensive game coming up with five steals. Raven Fulks hit for four points to account for the rest of the Cats points.

Clay Battelle Was led by Sollars who hit three long shots of her own for nine points. Neither team had a player in double figures but the Wildcats had more balanced scoring and a swarming defense that caused several turnovers. The Cats hit just 3-7 from the free throw line while the home team only made 4-11.

Visiting Wood County Christian Wildcats improved their record to (11-6) on Tuesday night, January 28, in Paden City, with a 39-34 victory over the homestanding Wildcats.

The visitors started out strong as they took a 13-4 lead and increased it to 26-12 at the break, but had to fight off a Paden City second half ralley to manage the win.

Paden City (4-13) used a 9-6 third quarter to climb back in the game and continued to pull closer with a 13-7 fourth quarter advantage before time expired. The Cats were led in scoring by Raven Fulks and freshman McKenzie Thomas who had nine points each while Tanley McEldowney contributed eight points. Skylar Fulks got five markers and senior Abbe Stackpole added three.

Paden City lost the rebound battle 41-25 and was 2-4 from the free throw line while the visitors made 7-17 from the line.
