Wirt County Takes Down Silver Knights
Tyler Consolidated made the trip to Elizabeth on Thursday night looking for win number three on the season, but the home team Tigers got win three instead with a 41-34 victory over the Knights in a hard fought contest. The difference in the game came in quarter two where the Silver Knights went stone cold and never managed a point after being down only three 14-11 at the end of one.
The visitors won the second half 23-18, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the first half deficit.
Leading the way for Tyler was Regan Smith and Allie Miller with 10 points each, while Lauren Templeton and Summer Miller each contributed six points. Caleigh Phillips knocked in 2-3 free throws for the rest of the Knights total.
Wirt County was led by Emma Wyer who got a game high 19 points followed by Kylie Stephens who hit double figures with 10.
The Knights finished with 11 field goals and made 11-19 free throws while dropping to (2-10) on the season. Wirt improved to (3-10) hitting 14 from the field and making 10-20 from the free throw line.
Silver Knights no match for Ritchie County
Tyler Consolidated hosted Ritchie County in girls basketball on Tuesday night but to no avil as they dropped a 48-20 game to the Red Hot Rebels. The Knights only managed three points in each of the first two quarters as they fell to the turnover woes with Ritchie getting several easy baskets off of steals.
The loss dropped the Silver Knights record to (3-11) on the season Ritchie County upped their record to (8-6) with the win. The Knights couldn’t manage to get a double figure scorer in the contest, but the girls played hard despite managing only six field goals on the night, while going 8-13 fron the free throw line. Caleigh Phillips was the teams leading scorer with six points, while Lauren Templeton hit for four points and Regan Smith and Summer Miller each had three. Allie Miller added a basket and Romana Rice and Landry Buchanan both hit a point.
Ritchie was led Ashley Davis with 16 game high points followed by Rebeckah Ruppert who hit for 15 markers.
