Moore, Joy Earn Accolades

By Staff | Jan 29, 2020

One of the Tyler Star News Athletes of the Week for January 29, 2020, is Paden City Basketball player Joel Moore. Moore is just a freshman and is already having an impact on Paden City sports. In football this past season he got a late start but still turned in some spectacular plays near the end of the season. As a regular on the Wildcats basketball team he often plays like a veteran in his first high schol season. He has reached double figures in scoring in over half of his games this year.

In his last five contests he has scored 56 points including three games as the teams leading scorer. He offers a keen jump shot off the bounce and can handle the basketball very well. As a freshman, he is a bright spot for the Wildcats and someone you can expect to hear more from in

the future.

The other player chosen this week is Walter Joy who had an exceptional game against Clay Battelle on the Cee Bees court in Blacksville where he scored 26 points in a loss to the home team. Joy can flat out shoot the ball and has been consistent all season knocking it down from long range.

He is the best shot in the area and proved it against CB going 8-10 from beyond the 3-point line while making two from the free throw line. The Wildcats are finding the going a little tough this season and are still searching for their first win, but the excitement is still there as Joy and Moore along with the supporting cast put on a good show night in and night out. Congratulations to both Wildcat athletes.
