PC Falls In Second Half to Wood Co. Christian, 40-30

Paden City took a 12-9 first quarter lead and expanded it by one at the half to lead 18-13 but they couldn’t hang on and eventually fell 40-30 to the home team Wildcats of Wood County.
Raven Fulks led the Paden City attack scoring in double figures with 13 points. She was backed in the scoring column by Skyar Fulks and Abbe Stackpole with six each. Brooke Hoskins added three points for the Cats and Tanley McEldowney hit a basket to round out the scoring.
For Wood County Christian who improved to 6-4 Sarah Michael led all scorers with 26 points. She went to work in the third period scoring 14 of her total as the home team outscored the visitors 15-3 to gain the lead and never look back.
Paden City went stone cold in the second half, but did manage to pull to within four 29-25 in the last quarter, but they couldn’t get any closer as their shots for not falling and The home team Wildcats controlled the boards.
“We made nine shots in the first half. We made 4-33 in the second half, so we were 13-61 through the whole game.”Paden City coach Alan Miller said. ” It’s been like that all year. We’ve got four freshmen, two seniors and one junior. We’re teaching fundamentals and the stuff they should be taught, like form shooting and how to shoot the ball, before they got here. Then, when you have seven girls, it’s hard to practice. You go over things every day, but when you play against someone else, it’s totally different.”

Paden City made 13 field goals and was 5-8 from the free throw line, while Wood County hit on 14 baskets, but connected on 14 of 24 from the line. The Cats also lost the rebound and turnover battle to the home team as Paden City fininshed with 15 rebounds to Wood Counties 29, while the home team also had 13 steals.
