Wildcats Fall To Tough Rebels Squad

Abbe Stackpole brings the ball up floor against Ritchie County

The young and out-manned Wildcats battled hard all night, but the older more experienced Rebels of Ritchie County proved to be to much for the Cats as they fell 44-21 on Friday night in Paden City.

The Rebels were paced by Ashley Davis the games top scorer with 15 points and Rebekah Rupert with 13, while the Wildcats who never had a player in double digits was led by Abbe Stackpole with seven. McKenzie Thomas tacked on five points, while Skylar Fulks and Raven Fulks each hit for four points. Tanley McEldowney added a point on a free throw. Thomas hit a 3-pointer for the Cats and Raven Fulks grabbed seven rebounds.

The Rebels took an 8-6 lead after one quarter and moved ahead by eight at the half, the third quarter really did the Cats in as they couldn’t find the mark and only added two points two to their total while the Rebels canned 14 to help them cruise to the win.

“We just don’t have the depth to stay with these teams. We have seven total players and four of them are freshman. Take away the third quarter and we stayed pretty close to them. We can’t play tight defense or we get in foul trouble so it really makes it tough. However, I am extremely proud of the kids effort. They give it all they have each time out,” said Paden City coach Alan Miller.
