In a game that wasn’t decided until the final horn, Magnolia edged Tyler Consolidated 42-39 on Monday December 30, to pick up their fourth win of the season. The Silver Knights fell to 1-4 with the loss.

Both teams had trouble finding the basket in the low scoring affair as the Eagles made just 14 field goals and 13 of 21 free throws, while the Silver Knights canned just 12 baskets all night and hit on 10 of 13 free throws.

The Knights made three from beyond the arc while Magnolia hit just one 3-pointer on the night.

Both teams hit for 10 first quarter points, but the Blue Eagles managed a four point halftime lead by scoring nine points in the second period to the Silver Knights five.

The visitors used a 13-11 third period to cut the lead to two going into the final eight minutes, but the Blue Eagles closed the game out by hitting for 12 fourth quarter points to the Knights 11.

In the third period the Silver Knights looked like they were going on a run with Bowman scoring eight points on two three’s and Rucker hitting a three, but Magnolia’s Chase Glover stopped the bleeding for the Blue Eagles as he drilled a long three pointer from the top of the key for his only points of the game, and there wasn’t a bigger basket for the Eagles all night as it proved to be the difference in the game.

Top scorer in the contest was the Knights Rucker who hit for 15 points including three 3-pointer, while Bowman hit 14, including a pair of long range shots.

The Blue Eagles also had two double figure scorers with Trevor Williamson netting 12 points and Q. turner adding 10 plus eight rebounds.

Williamson hit eight of his 12 in the second half with two big free throws as time was winding down.
