Wildcats Overpowered by Hornets
Paden City is still looking for their first win of the season after dropping a 67-49 game to the Hundred Hornets on Friday night, December 20, in Houndred. The Wildcats hung tough for the first half as they were down only three at the break, but the third quarter was the downfall as the Hornets behind the scoring of Cody Soles and Logan Norris was to much to handle.
The Hornets took the third frame 17-10 and cruised to the win with a 23-18 point fourth period. Soles led all scorers in the contest with 23, including two three pointers and a 4-4 showing at the free throw line. Norris added 20 points, including two 3’s, while knocking down 6-8 from the line. The Hornets had a third double digit scorer in Aaron Stevens who pumped in 14 and was 4-5 from the free throw line. Eli Geho added five markers and Bobby Hostutler canned two baskets for four points.
The Wildcats got a great effort from Walter Joy who finished the contest with 21 points while showing he can knock in the three ball as he lit up the board hitting 5-8 from beyond the arc. Carson Palmer added support with a nine point showing including one from long range, while Ty Cain hit for seven markers. Joel Moore added five points and Jason Anderson went 2-4 from the free throw line. Brandon Hizer hit a basket to end the Cats scoring.
Joy not only led the Wildcats in scoring but he also led the team in rebounds with five, assists with two, and steals with three. Brandon Hizer recorded a block for the Cats.
“We’re working hard and improving, we just need to get more production from more kids. We had some good runs in the game but in the second half it got away from us and be couldn’t recover,”Coach David Riggle said. ” “I am proud of our effort but we have to improve and I think we will. Give Hundred credit they have a nice team and they played well tonight. “
