Paden City's McKenzie Thomas looks to shoot.

The Wildcats came out clawing on Thursday night at Paden City and kept the Valley Lumberjills at bay for three quarters, but in the end the depth and experience of the visitors proved to be to much as they used a 14-7 fourth quarter to get the win 37-29.

Paden City fell behind by three points in the first quarter but played even ball in the second to go into halftime down 16-13. Coming out of the locker room after the break the Cats stepped it up a notch and outscored Valley 9-7 to pulll to within one with eight minutes to play.

After taking a brief two point lead the Wildcats went cold and Valley caused some turnovers to give them the fourth quarter advantage and the win.

Paden City was led by junior center Raven Fulks with 11 points and a game high 13 rebounds for a double-double, while freshman guard McKenzie Thomas chipped in with five points including a three pointer. Freshman forward Brynna Hoskins also hit for five including one from beyond the arch. Senior guard Abbe Stackpole hit a basket and went 2-2 from the free throw line for four points and freshman Tanley McEldowney canned a pair of baskets to end with four points while adding three steals.

“We are young and inexperienced and only have seven players, but this is a great group of girls who give in their all everytime they hit the floor. Valley is an experienced team and we played well against them,” coach Alan Miller said.
