Tyler’s Huffman Secures AOW Honors

By Staff | Nov 6, 2019

The Tyler Star News Athlete of the Week for November 6, 2019 is Tyler Consolidated Senior quarterback Gage Huffman.

All season long Huffman has performed at a high level.

A natural athlete with a great work ethic, he has proven timne and again he can come up with the big play at the right time.

On Friday night with the Silver Knights struggling somewhat he came up big near the end of the first quarter to get the Knights started. Huffman faked a handoff and tossed it out in the flat to a wide open Mark Rucker who took it 55 yards to the house for six points.

Later in the third quarter he added two more points to give the Knights a 24-0 lead when he connected with freshman Ty Walton on a two point conversion pass. Then with two minutes to play in the quarter he threw a 13 yard strike to Walton to put the game out of reach.

He was good on 6-8 passes for 152 yards and two T.D.’s while also carrying the ball eight times for 47 yards.

Top that off with nine tackles on defense and you have a pretty good nights work.
