Silver Knights Succumb to ’Jackets
The Tyler Knights Soccer Team played an exhausting game against Williamstown last week where the final score was 5-1 in favor of Williamstown. There were some positive points to take away from this game though.
The Knights seemed to have more hustle under their feet in this game compared to some in the past but it was no match for the bench depth that Yellow Jackets had. The Knights are trying to compete against larger schools while having a bare minimum roster and despite their best efforts, they are getting outrun by fresh legs. Regardless of all that, the Knights continue to hustle and compete.
Senior Zack Placer raced down the sideline showing great quickness and ball control to give Tyler it’s only score of the evening. Placer plays hard and is very competitive on the field making him a threat in open space.
Freshman Brody Seckman has stepped up to try his role as goalie which is no easy task to accept. Seckman plays with a big heart and he will continue to get better in time with help from his coaches and teammates. His quickness allows him to get from corner to corner with ease and as he continues to grow he will be catching every shot sent in his direction.
The Tyler defenders understand their roles and, with a little better communication, they can be a force to reckon with by getting into passing lanes and scrapping for the ball. They play hard and physical and once they get their spacing figured out, they are hard to get past.
Coach Maglino stated, ” The team played hard and played well” despite the loss. He will continue to work with the players on passing, ball control, and working as a team.
The Knights will host South Harrison in the final home game of the season on Oct. 10. Be sure to come out and support our boys in their final home game.
