Spotlight: Case Landis

By Staff | Aug 21, 2019

Tyler Consolidated’s Case Landis is in this week’s Sports Spotlight.

The Tyler Star News Spotlight Athlete of the Week for August 21, 2019 is Tyler Consolidated football player Case Landis. Just a sophomore Case has caught the attention of his coaches eye. At 5-10, 155, Landis has earned a spot in the backfield along side Seniors Mark Rucker and Gage Huffman.

According to early reports he will be counted on to add strength and skill to an already loaded running game. Last year he started as a freshman, and got a few carries on offense, but this season he will see considerable more action coming out of the backfield.

“Case Landis , is the ultimate team player, he always puts the team first, and leads by example,” Coach Ryan Walton stated. “He has a motor that doesn’t stop. Case is a smart, physical player who takes pride in representing his school, he is excited for the upcoming year.”

With the season opener only a week away fans will soon get a look at what he can do as a sophomore with two more seasons ahead of him. He is an excellent student in the classroom as well and already is making plans for the future. We look for him to have a banner year and put up some big numbers. “Teams will not be able to concentrate on Rucker of Huffman only because we have players like Case who can also make the big play,” added Walton.

Landis spent a great deal of time in the weight room during the summer and his work ethic is excellent. He has good speed and will be hard to bring down, he also has a good set of hands and could be one of the primary recievers coming out of the backfield or lining up at wide receiver. On defense he’s listed as a defensive end. Wherever he’s at you can bet he will be in on the action. Good Luck to Case Landis and the Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights as they open their season on August 30, at Ritchie County.
