Area Trio Named First Team All-Valley

Tyler West
Tyler Consoldated Tyler West as well as Paden City’s Trey Slider, and Magnolia’s Ashley Tharp leads a long list of area athletes to earn First Team in both the Wheeling News-Register 52nd All-Valley Baseball and Softball team that were announced last week.
West was a first team selection as he was on base a lot. He pounded out a .560 batting average that was second in the valley, while also providing a .933 batting average that also earned him a first team All-State and All-LKC.
Slider was the Wildcats leader, from the mound he struck-out 108 batters to lead the Valley, while also leading in innings pitched with 69 and was tied for third with 7-wins.
He finished the season with a 1.72 ERA and was named second team all-state in Class-A and All-OVAC. He drilled 25-hits for a .298 batting average, as well as scoring 28-runs and stole 16-bases.
Tharp, was a two-headed giant for the Blue Eagles as she tossed 155 innings striking our 202-batters, while leading the Eagles with a 16-7 record and a .486 batting average, and a .884 slugging percentage.

Trey Slider
She knocked in 32-runs and belted seven home-runs that also helped her win OVAC Class-3A Player Of The Year honors as well as First Team All State.
Those earning Second Team honors were Magnolia’s Patrick Mirandy, the Wildcats Matt Saxon, and the Lady Pilots Livi Rose. Area athletes earning Honorable Mention were, Tyler Consolidated’s Allie Miller and JoLee Walton; Paden City’s Ryan Cross, Jordan Stackpole, Clayton Thomas, Raven Fulks, and Ashlyn Moses; the Hornets Christian Fluharty, Hunter Tustin, and Kayla Matthews; Magnolia’s Jake Gamble, Silas McKeever, Kayna Anderson, and Paige Brill; The Pilots Cater and Hunter Dennis, as well as the Valley Lumberjills Megan Brown.
