Spotlight: Madison DeVaughn

By Staff | Jun 19, 2019

Tyler Consolidated incoming senior Madison DeVaughn is one of the Tyler Star News’ Spotlight Athletes this week.

Tyler Consolidated senior to be Madison DeVaughn is one of this weeks Spotlight athletes to watch. Madison is a great student in school and has a great attitude and work ethic. During the past three years she has matured into a Silver Knights leader for girls sports.

She has been a two sports star all three years exceling in softball and volleyball.

She led the Knights at the plate in softball and was the regular staring pitcher where she has developed in to a quality thrower from the mound.

She averaged over 400 at the plate.

In volleyball she is considered one of the hardest and most acurate servers on the team and can play nearly every pposition but is especailly effective as a digger.

The Silver Knights lost six quality volleyball players who made it to the state tournament all four years, but that hasn’t stopped Madison from stepping up her game to prepare for the coming season.

She along with several others have experience and desire to keep up the Silver Knights tradition in the sport and continue to provide the kind of volleyball Knights fans are used to watching.

“We will continue to work hard and try to get better by the time the season starts, I think if everyone works together and listens to Coach Summers we will be ready for what ever comes our way.

“By the time tournament play come around at the end of the season we should be ready to hold our own with whoever we play. It won’t be easy, but we will work hard to make it happen.

“I want to go out a winner at my goal is to help the Knights make it back down to Charleston plus win in the LKC,” said Madison.

The Knights certainly looked good on Saturday and players like Madison who are willing to help the younger kids can be the difference as the year goes on.

We wish her the best as she plays with that same intensity we’ve seen over the past three years.
