Wildcats Drop Pair to Irish

Paden City lost a double header to Bellaire St. Johns on Tuesday Night, April 23, in Bellaire.

The Wildcats went down in order in the first inning of the first game while the Fighting Irish sent three runners across to go up 3-0 after one on their way to a 13-2 five inning game.

The Cat’s got a lead off walk by Skylar Fulks and a single by Neveah Sweeney in the second but the Irish recorded three strike outs to head into the bottom of the inning. St. Johns two more in the second for a 5-0 lead.

Paden City scored two in their half of the third with a single by pitcher Erin McIntyre and a Ashlyn Moses home run to cut the lead to three, however St. Johns scored five more in the bottom of the inning to make it 10-2 heading into the fourth inning.

The Cat’s Sweeney got another single in the fourth but that’s all they got as St. Johns set down the next three batters to head to the bottom of the inning.

St. Johns plated three more in their half for an 11 point lead to end the contest.

McIntyre was the losing pitcher for Paden City with two strikeouts but giving up 12 hits and walking four. The Cat’s also had seven errors in the game. Six of St. John’s runs for unearned.

Game two was also all St. John as they gained a six inning 11-1 win over the Cat’s. Kelsey Michael took the loss from the mound for Paden City. The Cat’s only had three base runners in the game and one hit a single by McIntyre in the fourth. Michael scored the Cat’s only run in the top of the first after she walked and moved to third on two ground outs. She scored on a passed ball.

St. Johns scored three runs in the first on a walk and three straight doubles. In the second they added two more on a pair of singles and two errors by the Cat’s.

The Irish got two runs in the third on a pair of walks and three errors for a 7-1 lead.

They added another in the fifth and three in the sixth to get the win.
