West Sparks Knights’ Victory
Tyler Consolidated’s Tyler West usually gets it done at the plate.
As the Silver Knights’ top hitter, he’s averaging a robust .563 batting average this season.
But against St. Marys, it was West’s arm that made the big difference in a 3-2 victory that saw Tyler come back from a 2-0 hole after one.
The Silver Knights got stong pitching from West, who threw a complete four hit game, striking out five batters and walking two.
The Knights got runs in the third, fifth and scored the game winner in the bottom of the top of the seventh.
They collected five hits on the night with Jake Rice having a big night at the plate going 3-4 and knocking in a run.
Rice improved his batting average to .350 for the season. Chase Landis hit two singles in three trips to the plate.
St. Marys committed six errors and fell to 14-7 with the loss.
