Silver Knights Slam ’Cats in Four

Paden City traveled out to Tyler Consolidated on April 18 for a makeup game and fell victim to the Silver Knights’ bats, 10-0 in four innings. Tyler plated two runs in the bottom of the first for the lead and added four in the third and three in the fourth to get the win and improve to 9-10 on the season.

The Wildcats could only produce one hit on the day with a single by Kelsey Michael. Sadie Nichols and Taylor Ebert both led the way for the Knights, knocking in two runs each. Nichols and Ebert both went 1-2 at the plate with singles. JoLee Walton picked up the win for the Knights, striking out five batters along the way.

Wildcats, 24-6

Visiting Tyler Consolidated pulled away from a third inning 6-6 tie to score 18 unanswered runs for a 24-6 five-inning win over the Wildcats on Tuesday night, April 16, in Paden City. The Silver Knights held a 6-1 lead going into the bottom of the third, but the ‘Cats got the bats working and sent five runs across the plate to tie the game. The Wildcats got three straight singles in the second – thanks to Skylar Fulks, Madison Kline and Nevaeh Sweeney – to bring Fulks home for the ‘Cats’ first run.

In the third the Silver Knights scored for runs on four hits with Summer Miller, Allie Miller, Sadie Nichols and Taylor Ebert all crossing the plate. S. Miller singled; Nichols got a big double for an RBI, and Shiann Jones singled in a run before the inning ended.

Paden City fought back in their half of the inning with a double by Kelsey Michael, singles by Erin McIntyre and Ashlyn Moses, a double by Mady Kline, and Sweeney’s second single of the game to score their five runs and tie the game.

The Knights then took over the game with 18 runs in the next two innings to give them the five-inning mercy-rule win. Jones had three singles and scored a run in the game. Regan Smith and A. Dennis combined for three singles and three runs. JoLee Walton walked twice, hit a double and scored three runs, while Madison DeVaughn hammered a home run, three singles and walked once while scoring four times. Nichols doubled, singled twice, and walked while scoring three runs.

Hannah Jackson added two singles, scored a run, and had two RBI. Ebert had three singles, scored twice, and brought in two runs. DeVaughn picked up the win for Tyler with four strikeouts and giving up nine hits. Paden City’s McIntyre suffered the loss, giving up 25 hits, striking out five, and walking eight.

Michael led the Wildcats with a double and a single while scoring a run and knocking in two runs. Moses hit two singles and scored a run, while McIntyre singled and scored. Raven Fulks doubled, scored a run and added an RBI. Skylar Fulks singled and scored. Kline singled, doubled and scored; Sweeney singled in a run. Paden City fell to 4-14 with the loss.
