Tyler Consolidated made short work of Wirt County on Friday with a 16-3, five-inning mercy rule win. Senior Noah Smith got the first win of the season for the Knights, while getting relief help from junior Gage Huffman and closer Tyler West. Combined, they held the Tigers to four hits, while getting 13 of their own.

Huffman and West each recorded three strikeouts with West working the fifth and setting the Tigers down in order. Smith had two strikeouts and issued three walks in his two innings on the mound. Huffman walked two during his two innings.

The Silver Knights got the LKC win with the help of some heavy bats from West and Huffman. West got a pair of singles and a double, while bringing in two runs. Huffman hammered three singles to account for four RBI. Smith helped his own cause with two singles and an RBI, and Jake Rice knocked in a run with two singles.

The Knights took a seven-run lead in the bottom of the first, but Wirt plated three in the top of the second. Tyler came right back with five more in the bottom of the inning to go up, 12-3. The Silver Knights added four more in their half of the fourth to give them the win after a scoreless fifth.

The Knights will be at home on Friday at 5 p.m. vs, Valley; they have an away game with Beallsville, Ohio on Saturday, beginning at noon.
