The third quarter was a see-saw affair with the teams trading baskets most of the quarter.
The Knights were holding steady to a six-point lead, when Ritchie hit a basket to cut the lead to four 43-39 with 16 seconds left. However, West drilled another three as time ran out giving the Knights a seven-point advantage heading down the stretch.
Ritchie got the first two points of the fourth quarter on an easy inside basket, but Gage Huffman stepped up big with a three pointer for Tyler to give them a 49-41 lead. Mark Rucker got a steal and went in for a left handed lay-in to put the Knights up buy 10 with six minutes to play. Ritchie got an inside basket, but Huffman hit a short jumper 4:42 on the game clock to go back up 10. From there each team traded baskets to give the Silver Knights the 10-point win.

Rucker with 11 and Huffman with 10 both hit double figures to back West, while Griffin Phillips added nine points and led the team in steals with six. The Knights were 7-10 from the free throw line and hit 52 percent from the field.

“We played with great effort throughout the evening, even when we weren’t clicking on all cylinders offensively. Survive and advance is the key phrase during this time of year and that is exactly what we did tonight,” Coach Steve Nutter said.
“Looking forward to the opportunity to lead these fine young men in a sectional game. They have worked extremely hard to get to this point and will leave it all on the line.”The win sent the Silver Knights into the sectional championship game against St. Marys on Friday, March 1.
