Tyler Consolidated Falls To Blue Devils At Home

St. Marys came up big Tuesday, Jan. 29 against the Silver Knights, knocking down 11 threes and getting a 69-60 win over Tyler on the Knights’ home floor. The Blue Devils used a balanced scoring attack with five double-figure scorers, led by William Steele’s 19 points and nine assists.

He was aided by Peyton Auxier with 12 and Richard Dorman with 11 points and nine rebounds. Isaak Mooney and freshman Grant Barnhart both pitched in a dozen.

The Silver Knights were led by Griffin Phillips, who scored 19 points – to tie for game-scoring honors – while adding six steals.

Senior center Tyler West added 17 points and had a big night on the boards with a game-high 16 rebounds. Gage Huffman also reached double figures with 10 on the night, including two 3-pointers, while also adding five assists. Mark Rucker hit for seven, while Nick Gorby got four and Justin Bowman added three in the losing cause. The Silver Knights fell to 12-5 with the loss, while St. Marys is now at 11-5 – including two wins over the Knights.

The Knights finished with 34 percent shooting on the night and made 8-14 from the free throw line. St. Marys shot 25-50 for 50 percent and made 8-13 from the line.

Tyler led in rebounds, 36-26, but lost the turnover battle with 12 to the Blue Devils’ seven.
