ABBE STACKPOLE

The Tyler Star News Athlete of the Week for January 23, 2019 is Paden City Wildcat Abbe Stackpole.

Stackpole, a junior, had a great game against St. Marys last week. The underdog Wildcats whipped up on the St. Marys Blue Devils, 46-26.

The Paden City guard used a combination of speed, shooting and rebounding to lead the team to the upset win.

“Abbe is a great leader for ourteam; though only a junior she has the skill and knowledge to help our team in many different ways,” said Coach Alan Miller.

“On Friday she put it all together and played a complete game.”

Stackpole hit two 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 14 points. She also added six rebounds, seven assists and nine turnovers.

She is coming into her own as a basketball player, to go along with her skill as a volleyball player and one of the fastest sprinters in the state in track.

On Thursday, Jan. 17, Abbe hit for seven points in a win over Clay-Battelle, while adding six steals and eight assists.

Keep your eye on her; she may very well set some records in the next two seasons.
