Silver Knights Runners-Up at Camp
Twenty-one members of the Silver Knights’ high school volleyball team took part in the Marshall University Volleyball Camp in Huntington this past week. The varsity squad ended up in the Gold bracket of the tournament as runners-up, losing to Cabell Midland High School in three sets.
The JV squad finished in third place in the Silver bracket. The entire Knights volleyball team took first place in the dance competition. The Silver Knights have been working hard, and with a host of seniors and all their starters back from last season, expectations are high.
“This is a dedicated group of girl athletes who are committed to the sport and willing to do whatever it takes to make their final season together a success. Several of the kids have been playing in the off-season on club teams and picking up on some things that can make them a better team. The competition this year is going to be extremely tough, but we will continue to play the best teams we can, work at our game, and hope for the best. It excites me to see so many kids taking an interest in the sport, which is evident by the amount of kids who traveled to this camp,” said Coach Richard Summers.
The Silver Knights made it through the tough sectional and regional play last year and all the way to state before dropping their opening match against Wirt County, the eventual state champ. Hopefully this will be the Knights’ season to bring it all home.
