Daugherty is All-W.Va.
The West Virginia All-State baseball team was announced last week and four local athletes were afforded accolades. Named to the second team as a pitcher was Tyler Consolidated’s senior Luke Daugherty. Luke had 20 career pitching wins with the Knights and a career ERA OF 3.50. His junior year, he was 9-0 before losing his final game to Wheeling Central in the regional final.
This season he batted .288, and when not pitching, he handled the short stop position where he had a team low of six errors.
“Luke is the kind of kid any coach would be proud to have around. He is an excellent leader both on and off the field, and I feel he will be very successful in life as he has shown great work ethic and commitment to bettering himself and those around him,” said Coach Robby Jones.
Named to the All-State special honorable mention list was Tyler West of Tyler Consolidated and Kolton Elliott of Paden City. Trey Slider of Paden City was honored with honorable mention. West and Slider were both named as juniors and Elliott as a senior.
