Wildcats’ Duo Honored
The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference named it’s All-Conference Baseball Team this past week with two Paden City Wildcats receiving All-Conference honors. Named to the team from the Wildcats were senior 3rd baseman/pitcher Kolton Elliott and junior 1st baseman/pitcher Trey Slider.
Elliott was a four year player for Coach Brent Croasmuns club and helped lead the team to four straight appearances in the OVAC championship games.
Elliott ended his career with the Wildcats with a .295 batting average. He collected five home runs, 11 triples, 12 doubles during his four years with the Cat’s.
This past season he came on strong to add depth to the Wildcats pitching staff and threw three complete games, with one shutout and and a one hitter.
His on base hitting average was .312 and he completed the 2018 season with only six errors from the third base position.
Slider a junior lefty gave Coach Croasmun’s club a quality pitcher who hit the strike zone as well as anyone.
His curve ball that he mixes up with a drop is right up there with the best of them.
Slider is a two sport athlete excelling in basketball as well.
This year on the diamond he recorded 18 strikeouts, while walking only 11 batters.
His ERA was a low 1.95 per game and his win/loss record was 5-3.
While playing first base for the Cat’s he committed only three errors the entire season. At the plate he hit at .312 while his on base average was .378.
Slider ended the season with two triples and six doubles.
Congratulations to both players. They were two of only 14 chosen to the Class A team.
