’Cats Close Knights’ Season
Paden City’s Erin McIntrye held Tyler Consolidated without a run on four hits Wednesday night, May 2, at TCHS. McIntyre pitched a complete game to lead Paden City to an 11-0 five inning mercy-rule win.
The Wildcats’ Hannah Loy led the game with a single, and Aubrey Neff singled to put runners on first and second with one out when Jenna Ferrebee drilled a hard line drive to deep left field for a standup double – bringing both runners across the plate.
The Silver Knights got a first inning single out of JoLee Walton to collect one of the Knights’ four hits on the evening, but the Wildcats got 10 hits and a little help from four Knights’ errors to advance to play Magnolia.
Paden City had a big inning in the third as the Wildcats scored four runs on three hits and an error. McIntrye, Neff and Ferrebee all had singles in the inning, and all scored. Delainey Lantz also crossed the plate to make it 6-0.
The fourth inning was more of the same for the Wildcats as they added five more runs to the board on three hits, including a double by Neff that brought in two runs. Loy added a single. McIntrye got her second hit of the game, and Ferrebee was hit by a pitch. Hope Cooper reached base on an error, and a single by Ashlyn Moses brought in two runs to make it 11-0 after four. The Silver Knights had some chances to dent the scoreboard in the fourth and fifth, but they left runners on base in each inning.
McIntrye picked up the win, and Madison DeVaughn got the loss for the Knights. DeVaughn also added a single, while Maddie Ice, Walton, and Summer Miller all had hits. Walton came on in relief to pitch in the fourth inning.
