Knights’ Girls Drop to Wirt In Twin Bill

Tyler Consolidated traveled to Elizabeth on Saturday for a doubleheader with the Wirt County Tigers. The Silver Knights managed nine hits in the first game but couldn’t plate a run and took the loss 6-0. Madison DeVaughn worked 3.2 innings for the Knights to take the loss, and JoLee Walton came on in relief working the final two innings. DeVaughn gave up one run and had a strikeout, while Walton walked four and gave up five runs.

Hannah Jackson had three hits for the Knights, and Walton added two. Maddie Ice, Allie Miller, and Shiann Jones all had a hit for the Knights. Wirt ended with eight hits and five RBI. Kayla Randolph pitched a complete shutout game for the Tigers.

Game two was more of the same for the Knights as they finished with seven hits but failed to score while the Tigers got eight hits and crossed the plate eight times to sweep the DH, 8-0, in four innings. Madison DeVaughn took the loss going all four innings, giving up six earned runs.

For the Silver Knights, Allie Miller and Sadi Nichols each went 2-3 from the plate, while Summer Miller, Regan Smith and Shiann Jones all added a hit. The Knights left five runners on base, while also committing two errors.

Wirt County was led by Katie Frazer with two hits and seven other batters with one each. Maddy Richards got the win for the Tigers, getting four strikeouts and walking none.
