Longbeards Invite Public to 20-Year Banquet
The Middle Island Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) would like to invite the public to help them celebrate their 20th year at the 20th Annual Hunting Heritage Banquet. The event will be held at the Momentive Park in Ben’s Run on March 24. Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. A silent and live auction, games, raffles and more will be held, all to raise funds for wild turkey conservation.
The Longbeards want the public to come help celebrate the past successes as a leader in their conservation efforts, with much success in the Women In The Outdoors, (W.I.T.O.), Wheelin’ Sportsmen/NWTF and the J.A.K.E.S., (Juniors, Acquiring, Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship), the NWTF’s outreach program.
The Longbeards have won six national awards for their JAKES Event Field Days and were inducted into the NWTF Outreach Hall of Fame.
“We have made an impact with the youth in the area, preparing them for the future as conservationists,” stated chapter president, Bob Leasure. “We’ve enjoyed much support from the local area with businesses and individuals continuing to help us to get the job done,” he added. The Longbeards are asking all of the local turkey hunters to join them by taking a membership with the chapter ,even if they can’t make it out to the banquet. To join, or to sign-up a youth as a J.A.K.E.S. member (boys or girls ages 17 and under), or for information on the upcoming banquet and tickets to attend call 304-758-4374. The early bird special deadline is March 17.
