Tyler Consolidated made the trip to Ritchie County on Friday night for a return game against the Rebels, a team the Lady Knights had lost to at home, earlier this year. A couple weeks ago, when the Rebels played at Tyler Consolidated, the Knight had problems countering the attack of the Rebel’s Cassie Tallman. This time around, she still gave them fits – 23 points and three steals. However, Tyler’s Amanda Reynolds burned the nets for 19 markers, while Josey Jones added 10 points. JoLee Walton and Peyton Kocher came through with nine points each as the Silver Knights achieved a last-second 59-58 thrilling win.

Reynolds attempted the last shot for the Knights, to try for the win, but it was just off the mark, However, Walton used her heroics to get Tyler its win as she grabbed the rebound and stuck it back in, just as time expired. The Silver Knights, who were on a five game losing skid, couldn’t have asked for a better finish over a 5-8 Ritchie County squad.

Jones came through with six rebounds and two steals, while Walton also grabbed five boards and had a block. “We needed a win bad. We’ve been struggling, and I think the girls really wanted this one,” said Knights Coach Cathy Boggs.

“We felt we should have beaten Ritchie at home, so that makes the win feel even better. We have missed a lot of practice time, and are behind on games, so we are just like most of the other teams. We are a little rusty.”

“I am happy for the kids and our program; hopefully that win gets us back to where we should be. It was a confidence builder for sure,” said Boggs.
