Silver Knight’s Walton Puts Up Impressive Numbers
The Tyler Star News Athlete of the Week for October 4, 2017, is Tyler Consolidated junior volleyball player JoLee Walton. In the Silver Knights past seven matches Walton has stood head over heals above the competition . While playing against much larger schools and some of the best volleyb all players in the state, Walton continues to shine.
The Silver Knights recently hosted a tri-match with, Robert C. Bryd, Magnolia and Oak Glen. They then played on Tuesday, September 26, at the Charleston Civic Center against George Washington, and Bridgeport, before playing Thursday against Steubenville and Steubenville Central on the road.
During those seven matches JoLee loaded the stat sheets as she had a combined total of 359 sets, 143 assists, seven blocks, 28 digs, 36 points, nine blocks and six aces. Just a junior, and an all-around athlete who is also a standout in basketball and softball, she is sure to add to those impressive numbers the remainder of this year and with her senior year still to come.
Congratulations JoLee Walton on a great week of high school volleyball.
Earning special honorable mention for the week is Paden City senior volleyball player Jenna Ferrebee, and Tyler cross country runner Spencer Corley.
