Magnolia Nips River to Claim Victory at Paden City Spike Out

A full day of summer volleyball took place at Paden City High School on July 1 with Magnolia finishing the day with an 8-1 record while winning the championship over River, two sets to one. The Pilots won the first set of the match 25-23 but the Blue Eagles came back to take the second set 27-25 and winning the match with a 15-10 third set.

River got into the championship game by knocking off Paden City two sets to one, 24-26, 25-23 and 15-10 while Magnolia defeated Frontier in two straight 27-25 and 25-12 to get in.

During pool play the Wildcats ended with a 4-2 record defeating Frontier and River in straight sets while dropping two to Magnolia. The Cats finished the day with five wins and four losses.

Magnolia’s only loss of the day came in the first set of the championship match. River finished the day with a 5-5 record while Frontier went 0-8.

Paden City’s Jenna Ferrebee had a big day with 34 kills and 40 points, Katrina Heasley added 12 sets, 24 kills and 42 points, also playing big was freshman Hope Weber with 32 kills and 16 points.
