Youth Baseball Tournament Continues

The 11-12 year old youth baseball tournament for the area got under way recently with a first round league tournament game in Paden City. The Wildcats played New Martinsville on June 6, at Paden City little league field and came a way with a 13-5 victory. Pictured during the game is Garon Broughman making a play from his short stop position.

League play continued on Wednesday, June 7, with Paden City playing Middlebourne in a second round game at Middlebourne park. Ty Walton took the mound for Middlebourne as they came away withwith a 6-2 win over the Wildcats. Pictured is Walton firing one to the plate on the way to his win.

Also pictured is Paden City pitcher Carson Gorby of Paden City. Tournament play continued throughout the week , with several games still left to be played. On Friday Paden City played River and lost by a score of 5-2.. That was Paden City’s second loss of the tournament eliminating them.

Middlebourne played Woodsfield Friday evening and lost and on Saturday they lost to River. The campionship game between River and Woodsfield was won by Woodsfield. All the games on Friday and Saturday were played at the New Martinsville Hydro Fields. Tournament results were Woodsfield 1st, River 2nd, Middlebourne 3rd, and Paden City 4th.
