Tyler Star News Athletes of the Year for 2016-17
The Tyler Star News has chosen it’s athletes from Paden City and Tyler Consolidated High Schools. The chosen Athletes are picked based on their performance and participation over their four years as representatives of their schools in sports activity.
From Tyler Consolidated we have chosen Tyler Anderson as the top male athlete for 2016-17. Tyler participated four years and lettered all four years in football and track and also was a member of the Silver Knights wrestling and basketball teams. He has won gold metals at the state track meet on five different occasions and has been honored as All-Conference, All-Valley and All-State as a football player. He is undecided as to his future plans but is contemplating joining the military.
The Top female athlete from Tyler Consolidated is Madison West. Madison is a four year letter winner in softball and volleyball. In softball she was a pitcher and left fielder and was named to the All-Conference teams in both sports. Madison is planning on continuing her education at WVU in the fall.
Hayden Hizer and Aaron Heasley of Paden City have both been chosen as the top athletes at Paden City high school. Hizer is a four year letter winner in football, basketball and baseball while earning many conference and state awards. He will continue his education at Ohio Valley University after earning a scholarship to continue his baseball career.
Heasley is also a four year football, basketball and baseball player. He has lettered in all three sports and earned several all-conference and state awards. As a football player Aaron quarterbacked the Wildcats for two seasons and was the leading scorer for the Wildcat Basketball team with a 26 point per. game average. He will continue his education at West Liberty University in the fall.
