Vanessa Templeton pitched her second complete game in as many nights on Thursday, as the Silver Knights fell behind 2-0 after one inning than scored the next seven runs while holding the Blue Eagles scoreless the rest of the way for a 7-2 triumph in a Section One, Region Two softball game at Tyler Consolidated High School.

Templeton struck out six and walked two and the Knights out hit the Blue Eagles 11-6, while playing error free ball for the second night in a row. Besides her second straight win from the mound Templeton had another good night at the plate with a single, double and two RBI’s.

Kylie Martin stepped up big time at the plate as she knocked in two runs with a single, double and a home run to lead the Knights attack. Also pounding the ball was Madison West who had four singles on 4-4 batting and scoring two runs. Abbie Miller had a big shot with a triple that brought in a run. The win upped the Silver Knights record to 20-9 on the season and put them in the drivers seat heading into the rest of sectional play.

“We are peaking at the right time. I have to give these kids credit, they just keep fielding well and the pitching and hitting is as good as it’s been all year. Kylie had a great game tonight and really blasted one. These girls play well together and their support for each other helps make them a better team. I am very proud of what they have accomplished so far,” said coach Livingston.

Tyler Consolidated put five runs on the board in the first two innings and never looked back as they walloped Ritchie County 8-0 in Region One, Section 2, Softball Action Wednesday night at Tyler Consolidated High School.

The Knights got things going in the first when Madison Lasick stepped to the plate and knocked in two runs on a hard hit single between second and first. That proved to be all the Silver Knights would need. Lasick ended with two hits and two RBI.

Senior Knights ace Vanessa Templeton threw a gem of a game from the mound striking out 11 batters, walking none, while pitching a one hit shutout for the win. She also helped her own cause with two RBI’s on two hard hit singles.

The Silver Knights hitters pounded out 12 hits and played error free ball in domination the Rebels. Sophomore Catcher JoLee Walton drilled two doubles on the Knight and scored a run for the Knights. Walton who is as good behind the plate as any catcher around has a good eye for the game. The Knights other Senior pitcher and left fielder Madison West had two hits of her own on the night while also crossing the plate twice.

Madison DeVaughn had a big night at the plate as well with three singles and two runs batted in. Kylie Martin drilled a single in her first at bat and later hit one over the center fielder’s head for a triple. The win moved the Knights to 17-6 on the season and gave them an edge in the double elimination tournament and a chance to move on.

“We played well tonight, Vanessa had good control and she put some heat on the ball. We have two good pitchers in her and Madison and either one can get the job done. Our bats were active tonight from top to bottom and when everyone contributes we are tough to beat,” said coach Samantha Livingston.
