Silver Knights Send Roane County Packing

Roane County came to Tyler Consolidated Thursday, looking for a win, but the Silver Knights had other plans and sent them packing with a 6-2 win that upped their record to 17-4 on the season.

Luke Daugherty pitched six innings and picked up his seventh win without a loss, striking out three batters and walking none before giving way to senior Nate Lantz who worked the seventh inning to pick up the save.

The Knights out hit the visitors 8-6 on the and played error free ball while Roane County had three errors. Kyle Mason had a hard hit triple that brought in a run and Dylan Roberts doubled home a runner while Trent Smith added an RBI on two singles.Colby Buchanan had a single and Lantz got three singles on four at bats.

“I am very proud of the way these kids have played all season. They have battled back and won some games and they have jumped on some teams and held on to win some.”

“17-4 is a fine record and having to make up some games and fight the weather has made it even better. These kids just don’t quit, everything we ask of them they do. Coach Ash and I have great respect for the way they stick together and help each other out. They work hard in practice and it pays off in the games,” said Coach Robby Jones. “We are setting right where we wanted to be going into sectional play, that was one of our goals. We feel good about our chances.”

Tyler Consolidated falls in five innings to Williamstown

The Silver Knights, who had been on a winning streak and stood at 16-3 on the season, took their fourth loss on Tuesday, May 2, at Williamstown as the Yellow Jackets used 10 runs in the first three innings to propel them to a 16-6 mercy rule shortened game .

The Knights managed a 4-0 lead after their second at bat but Williamstown came right back with four of their own in the bottom of the second to tie the game. They then held the Knights to two more runs the rest of the way while putting six more of their own on the board in the third and adding five more over the next two innings, to get the win and up their record to 16-2.

Luke Daugherty took the loss for the Silver Knights while Dylan Roberts and Nate Lantz each came on in relief. The Yellow Jackets out hit the Knights 13-4 and committed only one error to Tyler’s three.
